Quote of the day
A blogger from my old patch has passed comment on me:
“Whilst I admit that I am mystified as to why [David MacLean] continues to remain so close to what appear to be a rag-tag of hard left Labourites, millionaires and nutters, I do enjoy his writing and his ability to dig out a good story.”
A back-handed compliment is better than no compliment at all…

Please don’t think of my comments as a back handed complement, because that is not the way I intended it.
I am genuinely perplexed by the behaviour of the Indy Alliance compared to other South Tyneside political parties, because their attitude seems to be at odds with your work, which I think it pretty impressive. You should be very proud of what you do.
Journalism is one of they key safeguards which protects the citizen against a self interested state.
Perhaps it sounds poncy, but incisive journalism if really important because it shines a harsh light on wrong doing. The investigations into Mordechai Vanunu, the Birmingham Six and the Telegraph’s expenses affair demonstrate this amply.
John Pilger (stolen from Wikipedia)
“When governments and other vested interests attack me personally I usually regard it as a vindication, otherwise they would use facts. That’s why I believe in the wonderful Claud Cockburn dictum, ‘Never believe anything until it is officially denied.’ It has certainly been my experience.”
PS. Do yourself a favour. Buy a Mac. trust me, you will thank me or ever…
